5 places for breakfast and coffee inside Birmingham's city limits, with hours from their own sites: Highland Park, downtown, Lakeview and Five Points South.

Last checked 2026-10-17. Refreshed every three months.

Birmingham’s coffee and breakfast stops run along the south side of downtown: O’Henry’s on Highland Avenue in Highland Park, Whammy Coffee on First Avenue South, High Dive in Lakeview and Karma’s Kitchen in Five Points South. North of the tracks, The Essential serves weekend brunch on First Avenue North.

How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Birmingham’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 17, 2026. We added The Essential from its own site. We left out an Einstein Bros. store near UAB that no longer appears on the chain’s site, an airport Starbucks that sits behind security, a cafe with no website we could confirm, and the Alabama Biscuit Company, whose White Oak Drive address is in Vestavia Hills. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. Run one of these places? Write to us to correct your entry.
