Birmingham’s outdoor tables are spread across the city’s south side: Railroad Park downtown, Highland Park on Highland Avenue, Five Points South, Lakeview and Crestwood, plus The Summit off U.S. 280. Every place below says on its own site that it has a patio, porch or outdoor seating.

How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Birmingham’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 17, 2026. OpenStreetMap marks more than a dozen places in the city as having outdoor seating; we kept only those whose own site says so, and added Chez Fonfon, Moe’s Original BBQ, P.F. Chang’s and Rojo, whose sites mention a patio or porch. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. Run one of these places? The places

Chez Fonfon is a French bistro in Five Points South. Its site has a patio section and describes it as a place to linger over a meal, a cocktail or a glass of wine. It serves lunch and dinner Tuesday to Friday and dinner on Saturday, with online booking.

The Filling Station is a pizza cafe and bar in Crestwood, serving pizza, pasta, sandwiches and desserts. Its site invites guests to its patio for live music and outdoor dining, and to enjoy a pint with their dog.

Michael’s @ The Boxcar is the cafe at the Regions Bank 17th Street Plaza in Railroad Park, run by Michael’s Restaurant, the park’s licensed alcohol vendor. The park’s page says seating is outdoors, so the cafe may not open in bad weather. The 2026 season runs Tuesday to Saturday.

Moe’s Original BBQ in Lakeview serves Alabama-style barbecue with a full bar and live music. Its site invites guests to grab a seat on the front porch.

P.F. Chang’s at The Summit is a location of the Asian restaurant chain. Its location page lists patio dining among its features, along with a happy hour.

Rojo is a Latin and American restaurant in Highland Park. Its site says the patio overlooks Rushton Park, and the bar stays open until midnight or later on Friday nights; food orders close at 10 p.m.
