Valentine’s Day 2027 is a Sunday. Birmingham’s best-known Valentine’s event is Valentine with Vulcan, a dinner on Red Mountain that sold out in 2026. The Alabama Theatre has two concerts booked for the week before, and the zoo has made a habit of a tongue-in-cheek fundraiser for people with an ex to forget.

Valentine with Vulcan

On Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, Vulcan Park and Museum held Valentine with Vulcan from 6 to 8 p.m. in its Electra Room: dinner by The Happy Catering Company, two drink tickets per couple, live music, giveaways, a champagne toast in a keepsake Vulcan glass and access to the museum, park grounds and Observation Tower. It was for guests 21 and older, one ticket covered two people, and it sold out, according to the park’s 2026 event page. A 2027 date had not been posted on Oct. 17; check the park’s events calendar from January.

Gifts that support the zoo

For Valentine’s Day 2026 the Birmingham Zoo ran “Name a Roach”: for a minimum $20 donation, you could name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after a former flame, with first names shown on the cockroach naming window at the zoo entrance and a digital certificate. For a traditional gift, the zoo’s animal adoption program sends a plush animal, certificate, fact sheet and photo for a minimum $50 donation; online orders had to be in by Feb. 1 for delivery by Feb. 14, according to the zoo’s 2026 announcement. Adoptions run year-round on the zoo’s adopt an animal page.
